This area is for Islam Watch.....just want use this space to update on the state of Islam in University.
I have been told the praying facilites are in PORTLAND BUILDING, i have seen the building but haven't yet found the prayer room.........will keep you posted.
Mentioned the prayer room today to one of the Muslim Sister in my class...she has promised to give me a grand tour...so will keep you posted.
One huge boost today was when I was greeted with ASSALAMUALIKUM.............was beautiful.
Saw many Muslim Brothers and Sisters today which was comforting.
There was some Sisters today outside SC promoting National Fasitng Day, a day aimed at Non-Muslims to fast and be sponsered for it. I will be fasting so you have my sponser.....
There was a talk organised for Freshers In the Prayer room today @ 5 pm...I hope it went well.....
A new (Muslim) Sister has joined our class...Nice....
I have seen a poster in the Prayer Room advertising som very useful talks by the prominent scholars of Leicester. Will update soon.
A poster displayed in the prayer room 'Looking for the next top Muslim Sister Model'.....i'm confused...I thought women in general should not be displaying thier beauty..rather they should be perserving this gift. There is going to an award ....so watch this space:(
UPDATE: The model show is on DEC 2nd...evening event....seen the posters up and about....not really intrested in going....
BIG UP to the Prayer Room: Since the clock change Salaah has become a even greater part of many peoples timetable...and so @ lunch hour (12-1) the Prayer Room is full with Sisters...it's lovely to just pray and eat...listen to others discuss lectures, share notes and occasionally jokes!By the way you don't have to be a Muslim to come to the Prayer Room....or have to pray Salaah for that matter.
I don't know what happened at the model show event...but when I get the feedback from the sisters @ salaah time will let you all know.
There are so many events advertised for the Muslim Students @ university....the recent one is based on 'Salahuddin Ayubi'....if I never had soo many other commitments I would love to attend. Pray to Allah that he rewards us for our intentions.
This area ahs been a little neglected.....But I have been going to the Salaah room when I have needed to pray....it's been full and packed with sisters performing salaah.I haven't been going much as I have been performing Salaah at home.

Ramadhan is now over and Eid celebrations have finished...so I have decided that unless I don't find out myself about the Islamic activites and events I am going NOWHERE...I have to make an effort...so tomorrow I have made an intention that I am going to do something about it......University is a HUGE place...you can't expect everyone to be chasing you.... you make an effort..LOL...keep it coming...
